I'm in a bit of an artistic depression. This is different from an artistic slump because I actually have dramatic and excellent ideas running through my head; I just can't execute them (time-efficiently, at least). I'm sort of fed up with my artistic OCD and how ridiculously inhibitory it is to my progress. While I'm being slowed down by it, I'm looking at spirallin, viralsanctity, and mongolvii, who can crank out brilliant pieces as frequently as rabbits multiply.
Just the other day, spirallin showed me a picture she drew as a gift for her friend; the picture was, needless to say, excellently done. I asked her how long it took, to which she promptly responded "Three hours." She then said that she was sure I'd be able to do the same...Of course I know that to be very far from truth.
I know practice makes perfect, but my classes are soon going to make it so that I won't even have time anymore. So while I'm sort of standing here preparing for any future obstacle in that aspect, the gap between me and any of my talented friends just increases.
Some of you may say/think "It doesn't matter since you aren't going to be an art major anyway," but to someone who wants to make the best of gifts given to him and become as close as possible to a true Renaissance man, it matters a lot. I've been drawing since I was 3-4 yrs. old, and I hate being stuck in front of this wall.
